The Power of Reflection
I am sitting at my dining room table on Dec 31, 2019 reflecting on a brilliant year. 2019 was a full year of every emotion; from adventure to surrender, intense love to forgiveness, abundance to hopelessness, embrace to perseverance and honouring thy self to accepting one another.
Yesterday I took the afternoon to go through all my journals, business ideas, creations and personal development knowledge that I have collected, stored and used over the past 5 years. I was truly amazed at all the things I have learned, created and accomplished. It is so important to take the time to plan, organize and reflect on your accomplishments, failures and creations to really feel proud of how brilliant you are and all you can do when you are focused.
I am so grateful for the power of reflection, to be able to smile as I think of all the amazing memories made and to take note of the true lessons that this year has taught me.
Reflecting on 2019
This year started with a ton of ambition; learning how to create a website, enrolling in an online business course, launching a website, buying a second hand camera to start shooting more food photography content, taking my reiki training, celebrating my Dida’s 90th birthday, snuggling new babies, travelling to Anaheim solo for a natural products conference, going to a concert with my sis, and a quick getaway to Las Vegas with my man. We then travelled to Nova Scotia and got engaged; amazing how magic happens when we release our expectations (I was totally caught off guard which was amazing after being with someone for 8 years).

The summer months were spent gutting and renovating our rental house which took lots of patience, perseverance and resourcefulness, welcoming 4 new baby cows into our herd, planting a bountiful garden with my parents, tending to life drama, attending so many beautiful weddings and being a bridesmaid for one of them, interviewing new tenants and slowly finding our way back into our passions – flipping trucks, fishing at the lake, seadooing in Kelowna and eating really good food.

The fall brought forward the opportunity to start dancing again, planning our wedding, having hard conversations that have unravelled me and are the reminder to give myself grace, shedding limiting beliefs and fear, remembering the true meaning of love, attending one of the best business conferences of my life and major soul connections with amazing family and friends.

The Biggest Transformation of this Decade Has Been From Within
Ten years ago I was 16 years old, I had very few worries and was living freely, consumed by thoughts of where the next party would be, what boys would be there, putting more chrome on my 2002 Chevy Silverado, going to dance class, picking candy out of my braces, looking for cute outfits at the mall, obsessing about my weight, driving tractor for my Dad and working at Sobey’s to save up for a school trip to Europe with all my friends.
Since then I have moved to a new city, finished my science degree, became trained in holistic nutrition, iridology, reiki and many other alternative modalities. Five years ago I LivNourished and began a career as a food product development technologist. I have travelled to Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and the United States. I am in an eight year relationship with my high school sweet heart who is soon to be my husband. We bought a farm, have a dog, cats and 11 cows. We get to spend time with our family, I live close to my parents and sister, and are still close with our high school and college friends.
Amongst all the growth and change that has happened in the past decade, the biggest transformation has been from within. I am so proud of the love I have for myself, the acceptance I have for my soul and body and the intuition that has been fostered within me. I am thankful for the amazing community of mentors, family and friends that are in my life, for the guidance and encouragement I have received and to be able to truly embrace my flaws, imperfections and body more than ever.
2019’s Lessons
2019 has taught me some of the most profound lessons which I am sharing with you today:
- You are enough!
- Lean into spontaneity
- Harmony over hustle
- Remove the masks- vulnerability is raw but heals you on a whole new level
- Get curious about the stories and beliefs that no longer serve you
- Rise up for yourself
- Redefine the meaning of success
- Release expectations
- Awareness is progress
- Give yourself grace
- Communication is key, don’t be afraid to use your voice and speak up for yourself
- You are your own validation – get comfortable with your true, vulnerable self
- You are deserving of your own love
- Our bodies are energetic magnets, we attract and repel (positive and negative) based on the thoughts, intentions and feelings we have
- Stillness and quiet are some of life’s greatest gifts
- We are all on a journey
- Don’t be afraid to show your emotions
- Your body knows best
- You are safe to embrace fun over fear
- Our dreams are powerful insights into our life and connect us to our greatest knowing
We are entering a new decade and I am so excited to be apart of it with all of you. Here’s to all the love, health, abundance and fun in the next decade to come. It’s an exciting time to be rising up and I can’t wait see what we all create together.
Cheers to all the love, light and abundance in 2020!
